Wreck and Reef Fishing - Full Day Trips
We offer year round line fishing and angling full day trips of 9 hours, departing from Royal Quays Marina on the River Tyne.
We explore the inner rough ground and reefs throughout the year but mainly during the winter months, where we uptide / downtide at anchor, predominantly for cod, whiting, pouting, coalies and pollack amongst other local species.
During the summer month we explore the abundance of incredible sunken ship wrecks littered along our coastline, in search of cod, ling, coalies, whiting, pouting and mackerel amongst other local species.

Wreck and Reef Fishing - Evening Trips
Throughout the summer months, when we have longer, lighter days, with warmer and more settled weather, we offer evening trips of approximately 4 hours, departing from Royal Quays Marina on the River Tyne.
We explore the inner rough ground and reefs whilst drifting to cover the maximum amount of ground, predominantly targeting cod, whiting, pouting, coalies and pollack amongst other local species.
If the weather conditions permit, we’ll also head out to some inshore wrecks to target some sunset cod, ling, coalies, whiting, pouting and mackerel amongst other local species.

River Cruises to Newcastle Quayside
One of the popular family experiences, is a tailored river cruise, departing from Royal Quays Marina heading up the River Tyne to the stunning Newcastle Quayside and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
If enough notice is given prior to booking this experience, we liaise closely with the Gateshead Millennium Bridge Team, who upon our arrival upriver, open the bridge specially for Sweet William, allowing us to pass beneath this incredible structure and cruise along the quayside before returning to watch the bridge close behind us.
A spectacular sight to behold!

Mackerel Fishing Trips
During the summer months, when the mackerel are closer inshore, in abundance, we can be seen out along our coastline most days on shorter trips targeting shoals of mackerel.
We depart Royal Quays Marina, and cruise down the River Tyne, passing between the piers at Tynemouth, and generally stick close to the shoreline beneath the picturesque cliffs of Souter Lighthouse, or St. Mary’s Lighthouse, and allow the guests to enjoy some fun catching mackerel.
You can keep what you catch, as they’re fantastic eating on the grill, pan, oven or BBQ, however, if there are any spare, as the only fully commercially licensed charter boat operating out of the River Tyne, rest assured they will be graded, put on ice and weighed in to the local markets to allow everyone to enjoy some sustainable locally line caught mackerel to eat! We also re-use unwanted mackerel to feed the local shellfish in our lobster and crab pots.

Birthday and Graduation Celebrations
A popular option for children’s birthday parties, and graduation celebrations, is a short run upriver to enjoy some food, have some fun, and take in the scenery with some fantastic photo opportunities thrown in for good measure.
It’s a good opportunity to bring out the tables and chairs, and put on some some music of your choice via the bluetooth sound system.
Unless it’s prohibitively windy, this isn’t so highly weather dependant as it is venturing out the piers into open ocean, so it’s generally a much calmer, pleasant and much safer bet than a coastal cruise!
That said, if the weather permits, we often pop out of the piers on the return leg, for some photo opportunities with Tynemouth North Pier, Tynemouth Priory and King Edward’s Bay as stunning background.

Trips tailored to inspire the younger generation
The younger generation are the future, and we go out of our way to give them all the encouragement we can to enjoy some fishing and a few hours on the water.
We can tailor a shorter trip more specifically to target cod, wrasse, pollack, coalies, mackerel, and whiting on some often sheltered inshore reefs surrounded by stunning coastal scenery.

Lobster and Crab Potting Experience
Due to popular demand, we’re extending our offerings to include a unique lobster and crab potting experience.
We limit the number of guests to a maximum of 6; that allows everyone plenty of space to watch in safety as the pots come aboard, learn how to assess and measure the catch to ensure legal compliance with size restrictions, learn about and even handle the species caught, and also watch as the pots are shot back into the sea after being freshly baited.
This has been highly requested and will no doubt be a sought after experience this year, so we’d recommend you pick your days early, generally during the kids summer school holiday, and at the very least make a provisional reservation in our diary. We’re already pretty much fully booked during the 2023 season between May and October on weekends, so this will be a weekday experience for those lucky enough to reserve a space.

Coastal Trips, Photography and Scattering Ashes
We are often requested to arrange shorter trips along our coastline when the weather is calm, to allow guests to soak in and enjoy our stunning coastal scenery. During summer you will regularly see dolphins and the occasional minke whale.
Some people may wish to either be out for sunrise / sunset to capture some incredible photographic images.
We have also been requested to put on a short coastal trip where a group has visited a particular area of the coastline outside the River Tyne, where they have scattered the ashes of a loved one in a compliant biodegradable urn.
